BIBBI X HANnA 

Art meets fragrance in a striking collaboration between artist Stina ”BIBBI” Seger and glass artist Hanna Hansdotter. Together, they’ve created a scented candle that goes beyond the ordinary – a perfumed sculptural object rooted in craft, history, and bold expression.

The fragrance is a tribute to the spirit of the working class, capturing the raw essence of Sweden’s glass industry. With powerful notes of smoke, sweat, iron, gasoline, and tobacco, it evokes the atmosphere of industrial locker rooms and the comforting presence of a parent. Sweden’s glass tradition dates back to the 14th century, and many of its historic glassworks are still active today. This project honors that legacy, while reflecting the present moment in both material and scent.

 

 “I reached out to Hanna in the fall of 2023 and was incredibly happy and honored she was open to collaborating. This piece is a true fusion of our artistery. After much exploration, we finally arrived at this extraordinary creation, an object that is as functional as it is a piece of art,” says Stina.

 

“The place where I work breathes strongly of history and tradition. An industry that has been challenged for a long time. When we initially discussed the fragrance, I wanted the feelings of the industrial environment to be highlighted. It is not romantic and often contrasts with the aesthetics of the glass. The candle becomes a imprint of where the glass industry is right now. I am happy for the opportunity to merge our common curiosity into this product,” says Hanna.

 

The sculptural form is shaped by the heat and rhythm of the glassblowing process – organic yet industrial, raw yet refined. Each handblown piece preserves a physical memory of breath and movement, making it entirely unique.

 

In an age of mass production, this object reaffirms the value of the handmade. The scent adds a visceral, emotional layer, preserving a story of labor, place, and time. With its distinctive form and character, it’s made to be used, kept, and appreciated for years to come.
